IBMは本日、マネージド・インフラストラクチャー・サービス事業のKyndryl（キンドリル）への分社が完了したことを発表しました。2021年11月4日から、Kyndrylは、ニューヨーク証券取引所で「KD」のシンボルで通常取引を開始します。

IBMの普通株の株主は、分配の基準日である2021年10月25日の時点で保有するIBM普通株5株につき、Kyndrylの普通株を1株受け取ります。アメリカ合衆国連邦所得税対策として、分配はアメリカ合衆国内のIBM株主の節税に効果的な方法で行われました。

IBM会長兼CEO（最高経営責任者）であるアービンド・クリシュナ（Arvind Krishna）は、次のように述べています。「Kyndrylの分社は、IBMがハイブリッドクラウドとAIにより集中し、テクノロジーとコンサルティングを中心としたポートフォリオにより、IBMの成長目標を達成するために取り組んでいる多くの施策の一つです。IBMは独立した企業として前進するKyndrylとの協業を楽しみにしています」
